MAJOR'S MISSION STATEMENT

Major’s Mission is a non-profit Veterans Christian Organization created in honor and memory of United States Marine Corp Major Julian Manuel Elizondo Sr. of Edinburg, Texas. My dad the Major, entered the gates of heaven on April 16, 2023. Born in 1937 in Delmita, Texas the Major came from humble beginnings and lived his life always helping and serving others. His greatest accomplishments' in life to me and my brothers were that he was the greatest father any son could ever have. He was mine and my brothers absolute hero and in his later years he was our best friend and commanding General. We always called him sir and everyone wondered why.
Serving the lord and being a U.S. Marine were his highest accomplishments. The Major completed two tours to Vietnam where he earned a Navy Commendation with V device and a Combat Action Ribbon as a Captain and Company Commander of the 11th Motor Transport, 1st Marine Division. He did many other things such as son, brother, grandfather, father, mentor, teacher, counselor, probation officer, and disabled advocate all of which are equally important and great achievements, but the most he spoke of and felt honored having done were his love for Jesus, playing his saxophone for the praise team at the church that he helped found, and his love for his 9-year military career which spanned from 1961 to 1970.
In November of 2022, the Major was diagnosed with esophageal cancer and began a fight for his life. We were at his side throughout his 6 months of chemotherapy and hospitalizations. During his hospital stays, they never recognized him as a veteran but he made sure they knew that he was a Marine. Everyone deserves equal medical treatment in the hospital and every veteran deserves recognition for their service. As a 10-year US Army Veteran I was determined to make sure that the doctors and nurses knew that he was a veteran and a Christian. I put his Marine flag in his hospital room and as someone walked in they immediately asked if he was a veteran and thanked him for his service. At the age of 86, he loved the attention and it brought up his spirits. He always remembered his creed and that helped him fight.
Everyone he spoke with, he never failed to mention our savior Jesus Christ and the U.S.M.C. Our mission and goal are to find veterans that are admitted to any hospital or any resident at a nursing home or at their home and recognize and pray for them. The Major, my dad told me that his work for the Lord was not done. Dad was correct, now we have taken over the reigns for him. May God's will be done. The Major's legacy will live on.

God Bless!
